EDP Open Promotes Gold OA
Publisher EDP Sciences introduced EDP Open, a new open access (OA) imprint for its scientific titles that offers OA journals, books, and conference proceedings all published exclusively online. There are now more than 70,000 OA scientific articles on the EDP Open platform.EDP Sciences has been active in OA initiatives both in-house and with other publishers and societies. “Increasingly now we’re being asked to support the launch of new Gold Open Access journals, and EDP Open is our response to this,” says Jean-Marc Quilbé, EDP Sciences’ president. EDP Open launched two gold OA journals: Manufacturing Review, covering manufacturing engineering, technology, and applied sciences, and EPJ Applied Metamaterials, focusing on high-impact engineering applications for metamaterials. Because EDP Sciences is owned by a group of learned societies, its publishing program’s mission is to “participate in the dissemination of important research work … as a goal of accelerating scientific progress and cross-fertilisation of ideas,” according to the EDP Open website.
