EDGAR Online and Hitachi to Provide Company Data
EDGAR Online, Inc. and Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., announced an alliance through which the companies will make financial information from U.S. and Japanese public companies available throughout the U.S. and Japan. For the first time, customers of EDGAR Online will have access to Japanese company data and customers of Hitachi will have access to U.S. company data.Hitachi and EDGAR Online will provide fundamental company data in eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), which enables importation of fundamental data into a common platform (such as popular spreadsheet applications) for unfettered comparison and analysis. The companies say the combination of U.S. and Japanese data will increase the value of an add-in tool for Microsoft Office 2003 that EDGAR Online is currently developing.
