EBSCO Expands International Humanities Coverage
EBSCO Publishing (http://www.ebsco.com) announced that the American Humanities Index (AHI) has expanded to become the Humanities International Index. The new database, along with its full-text companion, Humanities International Complete, will continue to be produced by Whitston Publishing (an imprint of EBSCO Publishing), which has produced the AHI since 1975. EBSCO said the expansion was in response to the growing demand for coverage of international content.Whitston publisher Michael Laddin said: "After 30 years, it was time for American Humanities Index to take the next logical step based on what our customers and the market are looking for. It has taken more than two years to research, collect, and index the many hundreds of titles added to American Humanities Index to create Humanities International Index. This includes adding backfile content for key humanities journals that librarians have told us they wanted." Humanities International Index provides indexing of journals, books, and other published sources from around the world, with a focus on literary, scholarly, and creative thought. It contains more than 1.6 million records and provides coverage of more than 1,900 titles dating as far back as 1925. Source: EBSCO Publishing
