EBSCO Acquires DynaMed Reference Tool

Expanding its presence in the medical arena, EBSCO Publishing (http://www.ebsco.com) announced the acquisition of DynaMed (http://www.dynamicmedical.com), an evidence-based clinical reference tool developed by a physician. Offered through DynaMed LLC (based in Columbia, Mo., and now an EBSCO subsidiary), DynaMed is designed primarily for use at the point of care. DynaMed founder, editor in chief, and family physician Brian S. Alper will continue with the company.

DynaMed provides clinically organized full-text summaries for more than 1,800 topics. A simple topical menu allows physicians, medical students, and other healthcare professionals to research synthesized information from respected publications, associations, and contributing clinicians. DynaMed monitors the content of more than 400 medical journals directly and indirectly by using numerous journal review services. Each publication is reviewed cover-to-cover, including letters to the editor, features about articles from other publications, etc. Summaries can be viewed in an alphabetical listing or searched by category. The system also allows users to view the most recent updates, post comments for review, access patient-oriented information, and more.
