Dogpile.com Adds Fourth Search Engine
Dogpile.com has added the search results from MSN Search to its metasearch engine. It now offers access to four leading search sites: MSN Search, Google, Yahoo!, and Ask Jeeves. The company said it is the first to combine results from the four search sites, and thus it gives consumers the most comprehensive view of the Web and helps them efficiently retrieve the most relevant results.According to a new study, only 1.1 percent of the first-page results are the same across all four engines. The study, done by researchers at the University of Pittsburgh and The Pennsylvania State University, evaluated 12,570 random queries run on MSN Search, Google, Yahoo!, and Ask Jeeves. The full results of the study can be found at http://CompareSearchEngines.dogpile.com/whitepaper. Dogpile.com has also built a tool that allows consumers to compare the results of the search engines for themselves. The new comparison search tool can be found at http://CompareSearchEngines.dogpile.com. Dogpile.com is part of the InfoSpace Search & Directory family. Other properties include Switchboard (http://www.switchboard.com), WebCrawler (http://www.webcrawler.com), InfoSpace (http://www.infospace.com), MetaCrawler (http://www.metacrawler.com), and WebFetch.com (http://www.webfetch.com). InfoSpace Search & Directory is a business of InfoSpace, Inc. Source: Dogpile.com
