Dataset Provides Organizational Metadata for Publishers
DataSalon introduced OrgRef, a free, open dataset that extracts structured information about academic and research organizations from open resources such as Wikipedia. Anyone can download and use the dataset under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported license. For instance, publishers can use it to standardize their own customer data or to identify new sales prospects.DataSalon manages and maintains OrgRef for the publishing community and provides commercial services for matching, connecting, and analyzing OrgRef with publishers’ own customer data. OrgRef’s goal is to share metadata about the most important academic and research organizations around the world, including their names, countries, and URLs. OrgRef remains in beta during its public launch so that members of the scholarly publishing supply chain can provide feedback. Source: DataSalon
