Congressional Quarterly Acquires FedNet’s Video Services
Congressional Quarterly, Inc. (CQ; www.cq.com) has agreed to acquire FedNet's reCap, reClip, and ALERT services, which allow users to search, replay, and post video content of congressional activity within moments of a floor debate. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The companies said that, as part of the long-term strategic partnership arrangement, FedNet (www.fednet.net) will continue to capture and process the video to make it available and searchable on the Web.reCap lets users search the full text of a floor debate and quickly link to a video of a debate. reClip gives users the ability to post that video to their Web sites. The reCap ALERT service allows users to be notified whenever a specific word or phrase is mentioned on the floor of either chamber and to instantly receive a video of the comment. CQ keeps its readers updated in print and online on a weekly, daily, and real-time basis. CQ's product line includes: CQ Weekly, CQ Today, CQ.com, CQ Homeland Security, CQ Budget Tracker, CQ HealthBeat, CQ Green Sheets, CQPolitics.com, PoliticalMoneyLine.com, Governing magazine, and a line of books and directories under the CQ Press imprint.
