Columbia School of Social Work Adopts OA Resolution

Columbia University Libraries/Information ServicesCenter for Digital Research and Scholarship (CDRS) announced that the university’s School of Social Work (SSW) implemented an open access (OA) resolution, making scholarly works from the SSW open to the public.

At a Dec. 2, 2013, meeting, faculty and staff voted unanimously to implement the OA resolution. Authors can provide their works to the public by following one of two avenues: SSW faculty can submit work to publicly accessible OA repositories such as PubMed Central, or they can collaborate with the CDRS to upload the work to Columbia’s Academic Commons digital repository.

“The Libraries are eager to continue to work with other Columbia schools and institutes to expand commitment and participation in open access initiatives,” says James G. Neal, VP of information services and university librarian.
