Cogent OA Rolls Out UI Upgrade

Cogent OA, an open access (OA) publisher that is part of Taylor & Francis Group, introduced an upgrade to its user interface (UI). The enhanced UI centers on helping authors increase the discoverability of their works and helping readers make new connections inside and outside their fields of interest. Other updates include the addition of faceted browsing and a structured taxonomy.

“Our ambition is to give authors the best possible publishing experience and broadest possible impact for their work,” says Bryan Vickery, Cogent OA’s director. “Our new platform includes a range of features designed to help showcase our authors’ work and encourage interaction and collaboration. We’ve been influenced by news and magazine sites—we will start to present snippets of content and highlights to help readers quickly find articles of interest, and enjoy that process of discovery.”

Cogent OA’s publishing program consists of more than 10 current journals and five more scheduled to launch by the end of the year. The company will also continue to add features to its platform during the coming months, according to Vickery.
