CIVIC Re-Brands and Enhances Library GIS Services
CIVIC Technologies, Inc. (CIVIC; http://www.civictechnologies.com) announced the re-branding of its family of GIS services for the public library market. CIVIC now offers its "Decision" family of services in two distinct product lines—LibraryDecision and BusinessDecision.CIVIC's current product line now includes: LibraryDecision: A family of library planning and management GIS mapping services. - Original LibraryDecision becomes LibraryDecision Planner
- Original MapsOnDemand becomes LibraryDecision MapWorks
- New LibraryDecision Patron, which was announced at the 2005 ALA Annual Conference
BusinessDecision: New BusinessDecision (announced mid-April) includes two services that enable small and medium-sized businesses to access detailed consumer data at their local library. - BusinessDecision Basic
- BusinessDecision Pro
The new LibraryDecision Patron is a quarterly reporting system that provides library administrators with maps, tables, charts, and narrative that systematically tracks and measures cardholder use systemwide and at the branch level. By tracking usage over time, librarians can justify the resource expenditures that are necessary to build collections that meet their communities' needs. CIVIC also announced that it has added several new features to its flagship GIS service, LibraryDecision Planner, while significantly dropping prices for the service by 40 to 60 percent.
