British Library Makes Digitization Progress on Historic Maps

According to The Art Newspaper, the British Library is a quarter of the way through its project to re-catalog, digitize, and conserve King George III’s collection of 50,000 maps dating from around 1500 to 1824. The project includes the Klencke Atlas, the world’s second-largest atlas, which Dutch sugar merchant Johannes Klencke gave to King Charles II in 1660. The digitized atlas and maps will be available on the library’s Transforming Topography website.
