Anythink Libraries Spreads Kindness
Anythink Libraries developed the One Kind Word Project, which is running from Feb. 6 to Feb. 11, 2017, to “help spread kindness and compassion throughout the community,” according to the press release. It was inspired by the Japanese proverb, “One kind word can warm three winter months.” As part of the project, each Anythink location is providing materials for creating custom cards with kind messages that will be distributed to organizations in the community who have people in need of cheering up. Additionally, local artists are hosting workshops at library locations on calligraphy, embossing, and screen printing.“Small things can make a big difference, and words are powerful,” says Pam Sandlian Smith, Anythink’s director. “The kindness of strangers can turn a bad day into a reason to hope. This project is a small but powerful way to bring our community together.” For more information, read the press release.
