AltaVista Offers New Search Toolbar

AltaVista, a business of Overture Services, Inc., introduced AltaVista Toolbar, a free, customizable search tool. The toolbar offers users a convenient way to access AltaVista's search functionality and offers partners an opportunity to deliver co-branded, state-of-the-art search functionality to their customers. The toolbar is available for immediate download at: http://www.av.com/toolbar. Once downloaded the AltaVista Toolbar is displayed at the top of the Web browser. Users can personalize the toolbar's layout and functionality by adding or removing optional features.

The toolbar provides fast and convenient access to all of AltaVista's Web, news, and multimedia search results. It includes AltaVista's Babel Fish translation tool, which translates words and Web pages into 10 languages. The toolbar also has shortcuts lookups for ZIP and area codes, currency exchange rates, as well as weather and time in 65,000 cities worldwide. The toolbar also includes a popup blocker to eliminate annoying pop-up ads. The toolbar is compatible with Internet Explorer version 5.0 and above, running on Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT, ME, and XP.
