ALA Participates in the White House Challenge to Save Lives From Overdose

ALA announced the following:

The White House [on Oct. 8] recognized the efforts of libraries to save lives from overdose. [ALA] President Cindy Hohl participated in a discussion of the issue with Administration officials and national leaders.

ALA is one of more than 250 organizations and businesses that have made voluntary commitments to the White House Challenge to Save Lives from Overdose. The Challenge, launched earlier this year, is a nationwide call-to-action to stakeholders across all sectors to increase training on, and access to, life-saving opioid overdose reversal medications like naloxone. ALA—led by its division, the Public Library Association—has developed resources to help libraries respond to the overdose crisis, supported by funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
