MicroPatent Upgrades Aureka Software

MicroPatent, a subsidiary of Information Holdings, Inc. and a full-service intellectual property solutions provider, announced the release of Aureka 9.1. This new version of the Aureka software has improved analysis, search, and management capabilities. Aureka consists of five main areas: research, clustering, concept mapping (ThemeScape), citation analysis/trees, and reporting. Users can search within the system or import patent and nonpatent information, and then perform analysis functions on the data.

Aureka 9.1 enhancements include the following:

  • The addition of German DE-T and DE-U documents
  • Behind-the-scenes searching while complex queries are run
  • Deduplication/expansion of document lists by patent family
  • The combination of document lists with Boolean and other operators
  • A Power Browse review for quickly scanning document lists
  • ThemeScape mapping of delimited corporate documents
  • Foreign citations that are available in citation trees and reports
  • IPC code coloration in citation trees
  • Improved importing of folder hierarchies and lists
  • The ability to import various patent-number formats
  • Faster document/list download and printing
  • The ability to track individual user usage
  • The allowance of user deletions
  • Additional security features, including write-protection and hidden from view

EDGAR Online Releases New Version of Premium Subscription Service

EDGAR Online, Inc. announced the release of a new version of its premium EDGAR Online Pro service. The company also outlined a new strategic focus on selling EDGAR Online Pro to clients in financial services companies, including investment bankers, asset managers, credit-risk managers, compliance officers, hedge-fund managers, market data professionals, and others.

Fundamental, ownership, initial public offering, and secondary offering data sets as well as advanced search tools—all of which EDGAR Online previously offered only to large enterprises as part of its EDGAR Online Explorer product (via XML API data feeds for intranet integration)—are now available to more than 8,000 subscribers to the company's existing EDGAR Online Pro service.

Susan Strausberg, CEO and president of EDGAR Online, said the new focus on the financial services market will streamline the company's operations, increase product development efficiencies, and allow for more targeted marketing. The company also expects to add staff to its existing subscription sales force. EDGAR Online will provide more details about the new strategic focus in its third-quarter earnings call on Oct. 28.

Cymfony, Dialog Form Alliance

Cymfony, Inc., a business intelligence software and services company, and Dialog, a Thomson Corp. business, have announced an alliance to provide Dialog content bundled with Cymfony Brand Dashboard in customized editions for both corporate and agency marketing professionals. In this new partnership, Dialog's business information and news content will power Cymfony's flagship Brand Dashboard media measurement and analytics application for vertical market opportunities.

Dialog's resources include business, trade, and consumer publications; content from the pharmaceutical, medical, and healthcare industries; comprehensive local market intelligence; and worldwide news coverage from 80 countries in 11 languages.

Brand Dashboard is used to measure, analyze, and manage global brands and media perception. This seamless application delivers real-time campaign monitoring, automated message tonality, and story favorability alongside quantifiable brand and media metrics.
