FAST and IBM Partner on E-Business Solution
Fast Search & Transfer (FAST), a developer of enterprise search and real-time alerting technologies, announced a relationship with IBM to pursue the development, marketing, and sales of integrated e-business solutions to the Life Sciences market in Europe and in North America. As part of this agreement, the two companies will explore opportunities to integrate FAST Data Search, FAST's scalable enterprise search platform, with IBM Life Science Solutions. The companies say this integration will help accelerate the discovery process for professionals in the Life Sciences market by delivering highly scalable, real-time, and single point access to the most relevant information available from massive amounts of data located in disparate formats from internal and external sources.
IBM provides the IT infrastructure and services that researchers in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, academic and government laboratories, and medical research centers need to turn data into scientific discovery and new treatments for disease.
Elsevier Ei Adds NTIS Database to Engineering Village 2
Elsevier Engineering Information has launched the U.S. National Technical Information Service (NTIS) database on Engineering Village 2 (http://www.engineeringvillage2.org), the Web-based discovery platform for the engineering community. The NTIS database is the leading source for accessing unclassified reports from U.S. and international government agencies.
Engineering Village 2 now offers subscribers the ability to search three prominent databases in engineering simultaneously. By searching the NTIS database with Compendex, the bibliographic database covering the engineering field, and the IEE's Inspec database, the company says that users have access to the most comprehensive collection of engineering references available. In addition to the extensive full-text linking currently offered on Engineering Village 2, the NTIS database provides links to the NTIS electronic document ordering service.
