ebrary Gains New Partners

ebrary ( announced that it has partnered with five new international publishers to make hundreds of full-text books and other authoritative content available through its Dynamic Content Platform (DCP). The new publishers are Oxford University Press, Brill Academic Publishers, Manchester University Press, SAGE Publications, and Artech House. The partnerships are designed to benefit libraries by giving them an affordable way to provide students with valuable content and technology, which makes the research experience easier and more productive while providing new revenue streams for ebrary's publishing partners. More than 200 academic, STM, and professional publishers now distribute content through ebrary.

ebrary also said it has been chosen as the single preferred supplier of general online books by the Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium (SUPC;, which is based in Europe and serves more than 40 universities and higher education colleges in the U.K. SUPC said that it selected ebrary because of its breadth and depth of academic content from leading publishers and for ebrary's flexible licensing options.

Hoover's Expands Access to News

Hoover's, Inc. (, a D&B company, announced that subscribers to Hoover's Pro, Pro Plus, and Pro Premium now have access to more than 3,000 news sources (up from 600). Hoover's Pro Premium subscribers previously had access to news on only 42,000 companies; they now have access to news on more than 470,000 U.S., 560,000 U.K., and 60,000 international companies. Additionally, subscribers can now browse news and press releases for Hoover's proprietary coverage of more than 600 industries.

The expanded news source set includes a variety of traditional, well-known print sources as well as transcripts from CNN, MSNBC, and FOX News. The expanded source set also includes numerous industry-specific and niche publications like Biotech Week, Automotive News, IT Training, Advertising Age, and Federal Information & News Dispatch.

All of Hoover's subscribers are now able to view up to 30 news stories on one page. This new feature is designed to make it easy to view similar stories about a competitor, prospect, partner, or industry in one convenient view. In addition, subscribers and users of Hoover's free site can now access abstracts for every news story.

Northern Light Acquires Analyst Direct and Analyst Views

Northern Light announced that it has acquired the Analyst Direct and Analyst Views product lines from TechTarget, which TechTarget had acquired in its December 2004 purchase of Bitpipe, Inc. Northern Light ( provides custom enterprise, industry, and Web search engines for enterprises and individuals.

Analyst Direct provides market research portals that index licensed subscription market research reports from dozens of IT research firms plus internal market research reports into custom, client-specific databases that can be accessed with one login, one search, and one results list. The acquisition of Analyst Direct reinforces an area that is a core strategic focus of Northern Light. Under its SinglePoint brand name, Northern Light currently operates custom market research portals for technology and professional services companies.

Analyst Views ( is a Web-based search and awareness tool that provides single-source access to a database of IT analyst research metadata. Analyst Views catalogs, indexes, and searches the full text of tens of thousands of reports and provides free content produced by more than 300 analyst firms. It is designed to help senior IT managers and IT vendors plan, implement, manage, market, and sell better.
