Google Introduces U.S. Government Search Site
Google announced Google U.S. Government Search (http://usgov.google.com), a site that is designed to offer a single location for searching across U.S. government information, and for keeping up-to-date on government news. It includes U.S. federal, state, and local sites with domains such as .gov and .mil as well as select government sites with .com, .us, and .edu domains (e.g., .usps.com, .ca.us, and ndu.edu). It also includes news from other sites like WashingtonPost.com.
Google U.S. Government Search allows people to customize the layout of the page and add content to the site from a searchable directory that includes information on government and general topics such as sports, business, and technology. News from other Web sites can be added using RSS feeds.
Google U.S. Government Search is the newest Google search product for government agencies. Google said that its enterprise group already counts hundreds of government agencies as customers for Google enterprise search and geospatial products. To expand Google's ability to serve federal government customers, Google also recently added Mike Bradshaw, as head of federal sales. Bradshaw, who has more than 20 years experience selling technology to federal agencies, will be located in Google's office in Herndon, Va., where he will focus on helping federal agencies benefit from Google enterprise products.

ebrary Adds New Publishers
ebrary (http://www.ebrary.com) announced that 11 new publishers will make their e-books and other digital content available to libraries as part of the company's subscription and perpetual access e-book database products. Joining ebrary's roster of academic, STM, and professional publishing partners are Demos Medical Publishing, Facts On File (perpetual access only), Helicon Publishing, Hentzenwerke, International Research Development Center (IRDC), IOS Press, National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), Syracuse University Press, Thieme Medical Publishers, the University of Minnesota Press, and Humana Press, Inc.Scientific and Medical Publishers.
ebrary products are delivered via the ebrary Dynamic Content Platform (DCP), which features patent-pending technology and enables flexible pricing structures and access models. The DCP transforms e-books or any PDF content into interactive databases, where every word in every document contextually links to additional information automatically through the ebrary Reader and InfoTools software.

LexisNexis Launches Corporate Affiliations Site
LexisNexis U.S. has announced the launch of its Corporate Affiliations site (http://corporateaffiliations.ecnext.com), a pay-as-you-go or monthly subscription site ($300 per month), for finding corporate linkage information on nearly 200,000 public and private parent companies and their subsidiaries, divisions, joint ventures, and affiliates. This online database includes approximately 50,000 U.S. public, 55,000 international, and 78,000 private active parent and child company/organizational records.
LexisNexis Corporate Affiliations provides information updated weekly from 6,500 news sources. Business information listed may include annual revenues, brands, products, ticker symbols, number of employees, and a list of competitors. The database also simplifies contacting corporations by providing the address, phone, fax, URL, and names and e-mail addresses of key personnel at each corporation.
LexisNexis Corporate Affiliations is designed to meet the needs of various corporate departments. For example, sales teams could leverage the database to discover obscure cross-sell and up-sell opportunities within corporate family trees. Business development teams could identify strategic relationship opportunities, and legal departments could use the database to upgrade their conflict-of-interest management process.
The Corporate Affiliations database is also available as an annual subscription, with multi-user and site licensing available in print and on CD-ROM. The Directory of Corporate Affiliations from National Register Publishing Co., Reed Elsevier, Inc., is searchable via Nexis.com. The file is updated weekly.Source: LexisNexis U.S.
