Emerald Group Publishing Debuts Product to Help Community Colleges
merald Group Publishing, Ltd. (http://www.emerald.com) released a suite of products for the community college market called Emerald Management Xtra College. Based on the information needs for the academic community, these new products target the day-to-day issues facing faculty, students, and librarians in associate degree programs by offering affordable access to top business journals, reviews, and support resources.
Emerald Management Xtra College introduces students to applied vocational management content early in their education, which is "an ideal time to begin reading and applying the business and management literature," said Gill Crawford, head of corporate communications at Emerald.

For example, case studies from Wal-Mart, Coca-Cola, and McDonald's are featured, along with study guides and resources for both teaching and learning. Content from more than 300 publications focus on topics ranging from marketing and accounting to human resource management. Community-based portals for faculty and librarians are included, providing an opportunity for subscribers to connect with colleagues around the world. Wiley InterScience Introduces Author Resources
Author Resources, a suite of tools and services designed to improve research for journal writers, is one of the latest innovations from John Wiley & Sons, Inc. (http://www.interscience.wiley.com). This new service, which is available to all Wiley InterScience users, provides general information about Wiley, the benefits of publishing on Wiley InterScience, information about a manuscript's status through Wiley's production division, and additional tools for authors.
Wiley InterScience also unveiled a trio of other offerings:
- Track My Articles, launched in conjunction with Author Resources, helps writers negotiate the process of publishing peer-reviewed content. All Wiley InterScience journals now offer this feature to enable prospective authors to track the status of their articles through the production process, from submission to publication.
- Citation Tracking, available to licensed Wiley InterScience end users, allows authors to view published works that have cited the article they are currently reading on Wiley InterScience and other publishers' sites. This feature was developed in partnership with CrossRef and includes links to citations from other CrossRef publishers that offer this capability.
- Citation Download offers a way to download citations and abstracts from journal articles and online book chapters directly into reference management software, such as EndNote.

Thomson Pharma Offers Ability to Analyze Clinical Information
Thomson Scientific (http://www.thomson.com) announced a new enhancement to its line of Thomson Pharma solutions for professionals at all stages of the drug development pipeline. The new Thomson Pharma Brand Management Module is a strategic tool designed to help executives in the areas of product, brand, and franchise management in the global pharmaceutical industry to develop effective product messaging and positioning.
The module lets users measure the potential impact of scientific information on their products from the prescribing clinician's point of view.
The Thomson Pharma Brand Management Module is derived from the Thomson Message Mapping System (formerly the Astrolabe Message Mapping System). The Brand Management Module, within Thomson Pharma, assigns an evidence-based credibility score and aggregates a range of key message metrics to deliver graphic and statistical analyses. The system analyzes information from scientific literature and medical meetings that describe products for the healthcare professional, and evaluates key concepts and themes describing their strength, diversity, and value.
The module will be officially launched at the Pharmaceutical Marketing Summit held April 3-5 in New Brunswick, N.J.
