Amazon’s Squeeze on Booksellers Leads to Boycotts and Protests
by Nancy K. Herther
Following several recent skirmishes with bricks-and-mortar bookstores, Amazon is now tussling with an independent book distributor. On Feb. 21, Independent Publishers Group (IPG)—the country's second-largest independent book distributor—alerted its 400-plus publishing clients that "Amazon.com has failed to renew its agreement with IPG to sell Kindle titles." President Mark Suchomel noted that, "Amazon.com is putting pressure on publishers and distributors to change their terms for electronic and print books to be more favorable toward Amazon." Despite positive industry response, others wonder how long IPG can hold out against Amazon.

Update on Political Fact-Check Websites
by Paula J. Hane
As I write this, the U.S. is in the midst of a hotly contested GOP presidential primary. The countdown to "Super Tuesday" is 6 days, and the countdown to the election is 251 days. Some days, I think I've just had enough election news. It's exhausting for a voting individual to examine all the claims and statements made by the candidates. How do we keep up with who said what and check to see if it contradicts their earlier statements or twists the facts/statistics? Hardly a day goes by that I don't see an article that questions or outright refutes something said in a speech or debate. But which sites can we believe?
