Hoover’s Premium Select: More Data, More Customization, Expanded Download Options
by
Posted On October 9, 2006
Hoover's (http://www.hoovers.com), the Austin, Texas-based D&B subsidiary (http://www.dnb.com/us), is enhancing its subscription products to include more company and decision-maker data, more customization, expanded international company coverage, and more downloads in its newest subscription level, Premium Select. Jeff Guillot, Hoover's executive vice president of product and technology, discussed these enhancements with me and provided a guided tour to the changes to Hoover's current subscriptions.

"Premium Select is a new subscription level that gives our customers the opportunity to access in-depth information and the ability to download any and all records in our database," he said.

The goal of Premium Select is to give customers more choices in getting the data they need and the tools that put that data to work. Premium Select gives Hoover's customers the following:

  • The ability to search and download any and all information on twice as many U.S. companies and three times as many decision makers as before
  • The flexibility to target the data important to their business
  • The options for increased downloading

Record Depth

Dots appear on company search results to indicate record depth, defined as the amount of information available for a company. More dots in the search results indicate more available data points.

With Premium Select, users are no longer limited to retrieving Basic (one-dot) records in their search results. Instead, they can choose to receive In-Depth (two-dot) records.

Your Universe, You Decide

Records selected to become in-depth records are referred to as Downloadable Targets. Before creating their Downloadable Targets, subscribers must first select a broad geographic set or global region: U.S. and Canada, Asia Pacific (APAC), U.K., Europe, or Top Global (largest public companies on major U.S. and global exchanges, including branches and private companies designated as leaders by virtue of revenue, market share, technology, or industry contribution). With its modular structure, Premium Select offers subscribers the option of purchasing multiple global regions. The new service now offers access to 6 million more companies in Europe and the APAC markets. This added data is coming from the D&B database, and it may have erratic quality issues, particularly when reporting on foreign sources.

Within each global region, searchers can further customize their search with a number of parameters: company size, industry, or additional criteria using fields from Hoover's Build A List tool. Adding this depth of content to any company record gives customers the ability to double the number of data points available for each company.

Prepackaged Off the Shelf downloadable target packages are designed to let customers easily pinpoint the data important to their businesses.

  • Major Market, Major Market with Branches, Full U.S. and Canada, U. S., and Canada
  • Regional areas: U. S. Midwest, U.S. Northeast, U. S. South Central, and U.S. West

Customers can also cherry-pick and download the exact company records they need.

Premier Database Provider: Hoover's Rocks

Hoover's still rocks as the premier database provider for public and nonpublic U.S. and international companies. Providing insightful information, including coverage of industries and key people, it offers subscribers a variety of fields with which to sort and download selected records.

Hoover's offers several subscription levels with varying prices and varying levels of access to its information. With Hoover's new Premium Select offering, subscribers have even more choices for retrieving the data they need.

Replacing Pro Plus XD and Pro Premium, the new Premium Select provides real value to Hoover's subscribers. Hoover's Pro and Plus subscribers now also have access to every company in Hoover's newly expanded database of more than 19 million worldwide businesses and nearly 35 million decision makers. All company records are now accessible to Hoover's Premium Select subscribers.
