Vivísimo Upgrades Velocity Search Platform
Vivísimo, Inc. (http://www.vivisimo.com) introduced Velocity 5, a new version of its enterprise search platform, at the Enterprise Search Summit, which was held last week in New York. The company said Velocity 5 is the cornerstone ofits new "search done right" strategy, which is designed to ensure that Vivísimo meets the needs of both enterprise end users and administrators. Vivísimo said it is committed to working with customers to understand their business requirements and deliver an accelerated software deployment schedule of 90 days or less. The strategy also maps out intended adoption of Web 2.0 technologies, as well as the availability of new connectors that enable enterprises to index, search, federate, or key-match content from document management solutions and from any type of application supporting open Web frameworks and feeds.
The enhanced Velocity lets users access and manipulate both structured and unstructured content at the same time by using new graphical interface controls. These controls put users in command of their own search experience. New metadata visualization techniques, combined with clustering, give users the big picture for a faster, but more thorough, exploration of search results.
Architectural and administrative functionality new to the Velocity 5 platform includes:
- Content extraction and normalization
- Virtual document creation
- Formula-based sorting, filtering, and grouping
- Smart summarization
- Content-level security
