Thomson Scientific Redesigns Patent Database

Thomson Scientific ( has enhanced the full-text patent collections in its Aureka and PatentWeb products. The new service, which will include deeper data indexing, new search and display fields, and more patent coverage, offers researchers "more complete results with greater flexibility and precision."

Aureka, billed as an advanced intellectual property management and analysis platform, and PatentWeb, an online repository of commercial global patent data, are part of the Thomson Scientific product line that is designed to support research needs for global organizations.

The revamped patent data tier is part of a multimillion-dollar data center that offers state-of-the-art hardware, software, and content. Enhancements include added coverage of Japanese and British patent data as well as improved indexing for precise search results and proximity searching, including the elimination of stop words and markup.
