ProQuest Announces New Agreements

ProQuest Information and Learning, a unit of ProQuest Co. that creates and publishes databases for libraries and educational institutions worldwide, recently announced three new content, distribution, and linking agreements with News International, Oxford Analytica, and CSA.

The expanded content agreement with News International continues coverage of The Times and The Sunday Times in ProQuest online databases and brings two new newspaper titles, The Sun and News of the World, to ProQuest products. News International is the major U.K. subsidiary of the News Corp., Ltd. The News International content will appear in ProQuest Newsstand products, eLibrary products for K-12 libraries and schools, as well as several products targeted at international ProQuest customers, such as ProQuest Learning: News. The agreement includes backfile rights for The Times dating to 1990.

ProQuest announced a distribution agreement for Oxford Analytica's OxResearch database. The new contract with the U.K.-based international consulting firm gives ProQuest exclusive worldwide distribution rights for the K-12, academic, and U.S. military/government library markets. OxResearch is an archival database of articles published in the Oxford Analytica Daily Brief series dating back to 1984, covering both world and regional economic and political developments of major significance and analyzing the impact of these developments on the political, business, and operating environments. ProQuest will offer OxResearch as a stand-alone online subscription service in the ABI/INFORM business database suite.

Finally, ProQuest and CSA have forged an agreement that allows customers of both services to link from CSA research abstracts to the full text of scholarly journals in ProQuest online databases, including the ABI/INFORM business database suite, the ProQuest Research Library, and others. CSA has published abstracts and indexes to scientific and technical research literature for more than 30 years. Among the titles included in the new agreement are: CSA Sociological Abstracts, Aquatic Sciences & Fisheries Abstracts (ASFA) Database, CSA Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management Database, CSA Worldwide Political Science Abstracts, and ARTbibliographies Modern. ProQuest supports OpenURL linking standards for both inbound and outbound links.
