Newscom and Reuters to Offer Video Content
The Reuters Video Resource Center on Newscom (www.newscom.com/nc/resourcecenters/Reuters_video) is a new searchable database of video content from Reuters (www.reuters.com). Coverage will include breaking news, human interest, sports, and entertainment from around the globe, plus regional stories from Europe, Asia, the Indian subcontinent, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas. Up to 60 new stories each day will be available at Newscom, each supported with a complete script and shot-list.Users can search for any subject with full text, topic, and date-range search options. Search results are delivered with instant access that allows users to view video content before purchasing. Broadcast video is available as full-resolution MPEG2 files, and video for use on the internet is available in three formats, including Windows Media, Flash, and Real Player. Users need a Newscom account to access the Reuters Video content. Reuters Video Current is available by subscription only. Reuters Video Archive is older than 30 days and is an ever-growing collection. It is available for pay-per-use licensing. Newscom offers flexible pricing options, based on broadcast market rankings or monthly website traffic. As this new venture evolves, Newscom customers will also have access to the Reuters Desktop Library, which contains more than 6,000 top stories from the past 110 years. In addition to expanding its sales operations by opening a New York City office, Newscom moved its headquarters from Washington, D.C., to Reston, Va., in the fall following the acquisition of the company in June by Mainstream Data, a global content delivery solutions provider.
