News from SPARC

SPARC (the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition) has produced and is distributing at no charge the new "SPARC Institutional Repository Checklist and Resource Guide," a manual detailing the issues that institutions and consortia need to address in implementing an institutional repository. The publication is available at and may be printed out and distributed freely.

SPARC also announced its partnership with The Review of Economic Theory (RET), a new journal published by the nonprofit, U.K.-based ELectronic Society for Social Scientists (ELSSS). The new RET competes with the commercial Journal of Economic Theory, which has an annual subscription rate of $2,228 (U.S.). RET will cost $350, and is offered free to countries with developing and transition economies. The partnership marks SPARC's entrance into the social sciences.
