Interactive U.S. Map Shows Patron Demographics

CIVICTechnologies released the CommunityConnect Interactive Map, a free market segmentation tool that shows U.S. public libraries the demographics of their service areas. The map uses 2010 census and market segmentation data to display visualizations for most libraries, concentrating on user types such as adult learners, low-income families that include young children, and online patrons. Data for each segment includes population, age, income, race, and education level.

“With today’s tight library budgets it is more critical than ever for libraries to make data-driven, customer-centric decisions,” says Marc Futterman, CIVICTechnologies’ president and CEO. “With this information they are in a better position to make the right decisions across a range of service domains such as customer development, collections, programs, marketing, outreach, technology, and facilities.”
