EBSCO Rolls Out New Features and Enhancements

In advance of the American Library Association midwinter meeting, EBSCO made a number of announcements of new features and enhancements. EBSCONET, EBSCO's Web-based serials management system, now includes a new, more user-friendly interface and several new features to simplify navigating through the ordering, claiming, and renewing functions.

EBSCO A-to-Z now offers access to free online journals, such as those found in the Directory of Open Access Journals (, PubMed Central (, Scielo (, and other portals. These journals are part of the A-to-Z master title database that provides link and coverage information to more than 40,000 titles from more than 530 database and e-journal packages from approximately 100 different providers. Using A-to-Z's online administrative module, libraries can add these titles and make them available to patrons. A product of EBSCO Information Services, EBSCO A-to-Z ( is a locator tool for all of a library's e-resources, including e-journals, titles in full-text databases, and publisher packages.

EBSCO's Publisher Services department has streamlined its processes, and now offers new services for libraries that help expedite the e-journal ordering process. EBSCO has also recently doubled its staff that provides support for EBSCO's e-resource access and management services.

And, EBSCO Publishing announced an expanded license agreement with Springer Verlag that will bring an additional 100 full-text journals, making a total of 187, to the company's EBSCOhost online databases.
