EBSCO Adds New Databases to EBSCOhost

EBSCO has added several new databases to its EBSCOhost platform. EBSCO Publishing introduced GLBT Life, with indexing and abstracting for more than 80 periodicals regarding gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender issues. The company also announced the release of the Textile Technology Index.

GLBT Life includes current coverage of sources, as well as deep backfiles for key publicationsómany back to the first published issue, for example, The Advocate (1967), Journal of Homosexuality (1974), and Harvard Gay and Lesbian Review (1994). GLBT Life provides comprehensive coverage of traditional academic, cultural, lifestyle, and regional publications, including Journal of Bisexuality, Gay Times, Bay Area Reporter, etc. It also indexes and abstracts the full run of many historically significant titles, such as ONE (1953-1967), Christopher Street (1976-1995), and Body Politic (1971-1987). In addition, other source-types, such as monographs and reference books as well as grey literature, including newsletters, case studies, dissertations, etc., are represented. Disciplines covered by GLBT Life include civil liberties, culture, employment, family, history, psychology, religion, sociology, and more.

In developing GLBT Life, EBSCO worked closely with the ONE Institute & Archives, an organization that houses the world's largest research library on gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender heritage and concerns.

The Textile Technology Index is designed to serve academic institutions and libraries by providing extensive coverage of the scientific and technological aspects of textile production and processing. First published in 1944 as the Institute of Textile Technology's Textile Technology Digest, the collection covers the body of knowledge amassed through textile science and technology from as far back as the turn of the century. Currently the Textile Technology Index contains indexing and abstracting for more than 400 periodical titles and for thousands of titles drawn from sources such as books, conferences, theses, technical reports, and trade literature.
