EBSCO Acquires Austrian Subscription Agency Minerva
EBSCO Information Services (www.ebsco.com) has acquired Minerva Wissenschaftliche Buchhandlung GmbH (Minerva; www.minerva.at/csp/miw/vmiw/vhomepage.csp?kor=en), of Vienna, Austria, from Springer-Verlag GmbH & Co., a subsidiary of Springer Science+Business Media (Springer). Founded in 1909, Minerva provides service to libraries in the areas of serials management and monograph orders, complementing EBSCO’s portfolio of products and services. Minerva is a leading subscription agency in Austria and Hungary. This new business opportunity resulted from Springer’s efforts to streamline its activities and focus on its core business of publishing. Joining the EBSCO network will enable Minerva to offer improved services to its clientele, particularly in the areas of online journals and databases. EBSCO will continue Minerva operations in Vienna. Accordingly, Minerva customers will retain their current customer service contacts and, therefore, should expect no change in their existing services. Source: EBSCO Information Services
