Congressional Quarterly Acquires FedNetís Video Services

Congressional Quarterly, Inc. (CQ; www.cq.com) has agreed to acquire FedNet's reCap, reClip, and ALERT services, which allow users to search, replay, and post video content of congressional activity within moments of a floor debate. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The companies said that, as part of the long-term strategic partnership arrangement, FedNet (www.fednet.net) will continue to capture and process the video to make it available and searchable on the Web.

reCap lets users search the full text of a floor debate and quickly link to a video of a debate. reClip gives users the ability to post that video to their Web sites. The reCap ALERT service allows users to be notified whenever a specific word or phrase is mentioned on the floor of either chamber and to instantly receive a video of the comment.
