Cisco Plans to Acquire Network Security Company

Cisco intends to acquire Lancope, Inc., a private network security company that provides network behavior analytics, threat visibility, and security intelligence to enterprises. Cisco’s portfolio of security solutions will add additional protection capabilities, such as access to Lancope’s StealthWatch system, which finds suspicious traffic patterns in networks to help detect attacks.

Lancope employees will join the Cisco Security Business Group under the leadership of its SVP and general manager, David Goeckeler. The acquisition is expected to close in 2Q FY2016.
