Agence Virtuelle to Launch RumorBot

Swiss-based company Agence Virtuelle (http://www.agencevirtuelle.com) has announced it will launch RumorBot, a service that will use software agents to track the source of a rumor about a company. RumorBot will monitor "gossip and buzz" by analyzing postings made to newsgroups, chatrooms, and lists. The service will also enable companies to track customers' views and rectify any grievances before serious damage is done to their brand.

The company press release stated that a million new pages and 300,000 new newsgroup postings are added to the Internet each day, and that the Internet offers an ideal environment for rumors to flourish—a hazard to which no company is immune. It was in response to this situation that Agence Virtuelle decided to develop the RumorBot. Agence Virtuelle creates "e-branding" solutions for companies and sees the RumorBot's protection features as a logical progression of this. The company has offices in Paris, London, and San Francisco.
